In this project, we will design an embedded system with mmWave Radar as a sensing modality for edge computing application. mmWave radar is highly accurate over a wide range which enables precision identification and tracking of objects using AI on edge. It transmits electromagnetic signals which are reflected by humans and allows it to compute distance, velocity and the angle of detected objects. It also helps to identify multiple objects in a region of interest which is very much necessary in real-life scenarios. Since all the surveillance of objects is done by point clouds, privacy is highly secured. This technology also enables machine learning models to be deployed on edge, eliminating the need for high bandwidth communication and heavy data processing on the cloud hence enhancing the data security and avoiding transmission of any sensitive data.
The skillsets required in this project are embedded system, basic machine learning, hardware-software codesign.
