Object detection in FMCW Radar Networks

Guide : Chandramani Singh
FMCW radars have emerged to be the key enablers of autonomous vehicles. Vehicles can use these radars to detect obstacles and to estimate their velocities and angles. However, a radar’s signal could be marred with signals of other radars leading to false alarms and misdetection of actual obstacles. Our objective is to tackle both narrow-sense and wide-sense interference to ensure error-free object detection. This entails (a) employing medium access techniques to avoid signal collision and (b) employing signal processing based object detection techniques. We will evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithms using traffic simulators such as SUMO.
